Goms holidays
| The Goms high valley stretches from the Nufenen, Grimsel and Furka passes (where the river Rhone has its source) to the stepped valley at Grengiols, below Fiesch. Cross-country heaven The Goms is a paradise for crosscountry skiers. 100 km of idyllic trails stretch along this high, sunny valley in the Valais, home of the young Rhone; between Oberwald and Niederwald alone, 80 km of track are waiting to be explored. And not only by day: a loop of 3 km is illuminated until ten at night. Of course, the Goms also has superb pistes for alpine skiing and snowboarding (at Bellwald, Fiescheralp-Aletsch and Hungerberg). There are 170 km of slope in all – rising to 2,800 m, served by 50 lifts – suitable for every level of enthusiast, from beginner to expert, as much fun for freestyle skiers as for families. But perhaps the most romantic way of all to explore the Goms is on foot – along the 180 km of prepared winter walking paths. Wide open spaces On the doorstep of every village in the Goms lies total freedom... Eleven marked snowshoe trails leading deep into the vast white landscape offer an unrivalled experience of unspoilt nature and poetic stillness. Either follow one of the marked trails through the fresh snow or simply join a guided tour. |
