Official inaugural ceremony for the first flight EuroAirport – Edinburgh with easyJet

At an official inaugural ceremony in typical Scottish atmosphere, easyJet and EuroAirport Management celebrated the opening of the very first flight connection between EuroAirport and Edinburgh. The destination is one of six new destinations offered by easyJet following the arrival of the 6th based Airbus A319 at EuroAirport as of December 2010. easyJet will be operating the flight to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

As of 3 December, the easyJet Airbus A319 (156 seats) will be connecting the three country region four times a week with the capital of Scotland. EuroAirport Management welcomes this new connection with Edinburgh which brings the North of Great Britain closer to the region. The flight which left today after the official inaugural ceremony had a passenger yield of 85% (134 passengers on board).

This winter, easyJet is launching 5 other connections in addition to Edinburgh and has based a sixth aircraft (Airbus A319) at EuroAirport for this purpose. The destinations are Dresden (from 3 December), Gran Canaria (Las Palmas from 4 December), Tel Aviv (from 5 December), Copenhagen (since 1 November) and Venice (since 31 October). This further expansion of its offering means that easyJet now services a total of 31 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East from EuroAirport.
