Official inauguration ceremony for the first flights with bmi from EuroAirport to Great Britain
During an official ceremony, which took place on March 28 at the beginning of the 2011 summer flight plan, EuroAirport Management welcomed the first flights with bmi (British Midland International) from EuroAirport to Great Britain. EuroAirport is especially pleased about the arrival of the new British airline bmi, an official partner airline of SWISS, as it will increase the flight offering from EuroAirport thanks to the utilization of an Airbus A319 (144 seats). As all bmi flights will be operated in code-share with SWISS, the number of seats offered by SWISS on flights to Great Britain will also more than double.
During an official inauguration celebration ceremony, which took place this morning to mark the first flight to Manchester with bmi (BD 300), EuroAirport Management welcomed representatives of the new airline in the presence of SWISS and greeted the new SWISS-bmi partnership. "Thanks to the arrival of this new airline, bmi, EuroAirport customers have a greater and more varied selection of flights. This, in turn, increases the attractiveness of the airport. What's more, the new cooperation partnership will also reinforce the presence of the Star Alliance at EuroAirport, which at the end of 2010 with a market share of nearly 17% held first place among the three major airline alliances at the Airport", confirmed Jürg Rämi, Director EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.
Thanks to the utilisation of a modern Airbus A319 by bmi, SWISS can now offer daily codeshare flights to Manchester as well as three flights during the week and two daily weekend flights to London Heathrow. In addition, SWISS will also be flying this summer to Rome once a day and Copenhagen six times a week, and will increase the frequency of its flights to Hamburg and Barcelona.
